St. Sophia Church

The main structure of this impressive building was completed in 1907 and fully upgraded to what it is today in 1923. It was originally consieved to boost the spirits of Russian soldiers decimated by the Japanese in the Russo-Japanese war of 1904/05. Today, there are no services as it is an Art and municipal arcitecture museum inside. For a fee of about 10RMB you can take a look inside, but the most impressive peice of architecture in the museum is the museum itself.

Jile Temple
Add: 9 Dongdazhi Street (Dongda zhijie).
This Buddhist temple was built in 1920. It is an expansive structure regarded as one of the best examples of Chinese temple building. Every April on the 8th, 18th and 28th (according to the lunar calender) major Buddhist festivals are celebrated. Entry is 5RMB for Chinese, 10RMB for foreigners

Sun Island

The centre for activities in Harbin in summer and winter. In the summer it is a riverfront beach area with great picnic options and has the Siberian Tiger Park. In winter, the annual Habin Ice and Snow Festival is held here and they also organise sledding hockey etc...

Costs: RMB2 ferry ride, RMB5 entrance fee.
Yuquan Hunting Ground

The largest enclosed hunting ground in China. The grounds cover 3000 hectares, 80% of which is forest covered. It is 30RMB to get into the park, but everthing inside costs money as well. Guns, individual bullets and the animals you kill all have different prices eg. Wild Turkey = 70RMB, Deer = 10,000RMB. So bring your credit card if your headed to this venue.

Flood Control Monument & Stalin Park

Stalin park is of course a monument to the (rocky) friendship between China and it's Russian neighbours. Built in 1953, it is slightly older than the Flood Control Monument built in 1958 to commemorate the success in stopping the floods of the previous year. It is a nice open space good for seeing the surrounding area.
Japanese Germ Warfare Base Museum
Yet another preserved relic of WWII intended to try to get the rest of the world to listen to China's complaints against Japan.
